Today is International Women’s Day and the Day Without a Woman strike! Mercy For Animals is proud to join millions of individuals and organisations in supporting this important cause.
We believe that all sentient beings deserve to be treated with dignity, equality, and respect, regardless of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religion, country of origin—and of course, species.
Intersectionality is a vital part of the animal protection movement. It is why MFA was one of the first animal rights organisations to march in pride parades across the United States.
Sadly, we still have a long way to go towards a just and fair world. Women worldwide still experience great inequities. They are often less secure in their jobs and paid less than their male counterparts while suffering sexual harassment and discrimination.
MFA is honoured to stand in solidarity with those striking for gender justice. Therefore, we are granting our entire staff an additional holiday to participate in today’s strike. We encourage other organisations to do the same.
No one is free when others are oppressed.
